Rating a project: one criterion at a time

How do I actually submit a rating on a project?

Rating a project is not one action. Each criterion is scored and saved on its own, so a project with four criteria takes four saves. There is no single button that submits the whole thing.

The steps, once the panel has opened for you:

  1. Choose a criterion from the Select Criterion to Rate dropdown.
  2. Move the slider to the score you want. The slider opens at the criterion's own range, which is not always 1 to 10.
  3. Select Save Rating.
  4. Go back to the dropdown and repeat for the next criterion.

Everything you have already scored is listed under the panel. Selecting one of those reopens it with your score loaded, so that is where you go to change your mind.

Save Rating stays grey until you move the slider

The button is disabled until the value actually changes. If you open a criterion, decide the score already showing is right and press Save, nothing happens, because from the panel's point of view you have not scored anything yet. Move the slider off the value and back onto it, and the button turns on.

This is the single most common reason a rating does not appear to save.

Removing one score, not all of them

Remove appears beside Save only on a criterion you have already rated, and it removes that criterion alone. Your other scores on the project are untouched. Cancel closes the panel without writing anything.

An empty panel is not a fault at your end

Only criteria that UNI has verified are offered for community rating. If a project's criteria have not been verified, an eligible member sees the ratings heading and nothing underneath it, with no message explaining the gap. There is nothing to do about that from your side, and it is worth reporting the project link to us if you expected to be able to rate it.

If the panel does not open at all

That is a separate question, and it is usually a membership boundary rather than a fault. Rating is open on four of the six plans, and you cannot rate a project you are credited on. See Who can rate a project and why the panel is locked for you.
