Why the checkout total is higher than the price we advertise

Membership and hosting prices are listed before a 7.5% gateway charge, which is added at checkout. What each plan actually costs to pay for.

The price on the membership page is the price of the plan. The total at checkout is a little higher, because a payment gateway charge of 7.5% is added on top.

Nothing is being marked up quietly. The plan price is what UNI charges; the gateway charge is what it costs to take a card payment, and it is passed through at cost.

What each plan comes to

Table already makes this clear; no visual needed.

Plan Listed price Total at checkout
Weekly $9 $9.67
Monthly $18 $19.35
Semester $65 $69.88
Annual $99 $106.42
Studio $199 $213.92
Institutional $499 $536.42

The same 7.5% applies to competition hosting plans and to anything else bought through the shop.

Why you may see a slightly different figure

The membership page rounds the total to a whole dollar, so Annual reads $107 there and $106.42 at checkout. The figure in the table above is the one that leaves your account.

Help articles quote the total you pay. Where a plan's price is given without the charge, it is labelled as the listed price.

If the difference between the two is ever more than 7.5%, that is a bug and worth reporting through the contact form.
