Navigating Institutional Access: Your Support and Documentation Guide

Unravel the essentials of support and documentation for a smooth experience with UNI's Institutional Access – your gateway to global competition engagement.

Institutional Access has a short verification step before a pass goes live. This page covers what UNI needs from you, how long each step takes, and where to ask for help.

Registering with the right credentials

Register from the mentor's account where you can, and use an official university email address. That address verifies the institution automatically and skips the documentation step.

If the address is not a university one, the UNI team contacts you within three business days for proof of your connection to the institution. A university identity card or a letter of authorisation from the institution both work.

Can we register without a mentor?

Yes. You can register on a mentor's behalf. A background check still runs on the registration and the documentation step above still applies, so registering from an official university email address is the quickest route either way.

How long activation takes

Once UNI has your documents, activating the pass takes up to two working days. Allow for that when you are working back from a registration deadline.

Refunds and transfers

An Institutional Access pass is non-refundable and non-transferable. Read the competition brief, the schedule and the fee before you pay.

Entries, plans and terms

The entry allowance, the number of mentor seats and the term all depend on the plan you buy. Those figures are kept on the plan cards on the Institutional Access page, so read them from there rather than from a help article. If one pass does not cover your class, you can buy more than one and split the entries between groups as you like, within the team size the competition permits.

Fitting a competition to your term dates

UNI carries a large library of competitions with staggered deadlines, so the usual answer is to pick one whose published schedule already fits your studio calendar. If you need a schedule changed, ask at least a month ahead. Whether it can move depends on the other participants already registered.
