Collections is UNI's name for the things you have bookmarked. The number is the total of everything you have saved, and it is a count of saved items, not of folders. There are no folders to make, which is why the figure never matches anything you built.
Eight kinds of thing count towards it
Open Profile, then Collections in the left sidebar. The page has a tab for each kind, and each tab carries its own count:
- Competitions
- Projects
- Journals
- Publications
- Inspirations, meaning individual images you saved
- Jobs
- Services
- Courses
The number beside Collections is all eight added together. A tab only carries a count once it holds something, so the row can look shorter than the list above. If your Inspirations tab is large, which it usually is, the total will look far bigger than the number of projects or articles you remember saving.
It counts your saves, not saves of your work
This is the confusion worth clearing up. Collections counts what you bookmarked. It has nothing to do with how many people bookmarked your projects, and it is not a measure of how your work is doing. Nothing another member does can move it.
It moves as you use the site
Every bookmark control anywhere on UNI writes to the same place, so saving a competition from a competition page and saving an image from Inspirations both land in Collections. Removing a bookmark takes the number down straight away.
The Collections entry only appears in the sidebar once you have saved at least one thing, so a new account has no Collections link at all until it does.
Nothing else is derived from it
Collections is not counted in your Profile Score and it does not affect how your profile is ranked or found. It is a reading list, and it is there for you to come back to.
