The search box on the Atlas is a way of moving around the globe you have open, not a search of UNI. It looks only at the pins already drawn on the body you are on, so most of what you might expect it to find is out of its reach by design.
It appears once you open Earth, Mars or the Moon. There is no search box on the solar system view.
What it looks at
- Only the body you have open. A project pinned on Mars is invisible while you are on Earth. Open the other body and search again.
- Only project titles, and city and country names. Author names, descriptions, disciplines and organizations are not matched. Searching for a person will not find their work here.
- Two characters at least. One character returns nothing at all, which looks the same as a search that has not started.
- Five of each at most. The list shows up to five places and up to five projects, with places first. A common word will fill both halves and hide everything else, so type more of the title rather than scrolling for it.
What happens when you choose a result
Choosing a place flies the globe to it. Choosing a project flies the globe to that project and opens its card, so you stay on the Atlas either way.
The exception is the list you get when you select a cluster of pins rather than a single one. Choosing a project from that list opens the project page and leaves the Atlas.
If a project is not there at all
The box can only find a project that has a pin. A project has a pin when it is published, public, and carries a location with real coordinates on the published version. Any of those missing and the project is not on the globe for anyone, so no search will surface it.
Projects placed in orbit are never in the box, because orbit is not a body you can open.
