That line is chosen automatically from the state of the competition, and it is an advert rather than a description of a lock. Three versions exist, all of them linking to the membership page, and two of them name something a membership does not actually gate. If you are trying to work out what you are being kept out of, this is what each one means.
The three versions and when each appears
- View all entries with UNI Membership appears once the competition's submission deadline has passed.
- Exclusive pass with UNI Membership appears on a competition that charges a fee and has an institution registration category open on it.
- Get detailed analytics with UNI Membership appears in every other case, including on every free competition.
What is actually gated, and what is not
The entries list and the leaderboard are not membership features. Any signed-in UNI account, free ones included, opens both. Signed out, the leaderboard asks you to sign in, which is a sign-in wall and not a plan check.
Opening the entries is where a membership matters. Each entry's project counts against the free viewing allowance that applies to projects generally, and that allowance is small for accounts without a membership. So on a competition with hundreds of entries you can see the list, then run out partway through opening them. An active membership removes the allowance completely, and any active plan does it, including the cheapest. That is the version of the line closest to being true.
Your entry's analytics dashboard does not require a membership. It is restricted by who you are, not what you pay: the entry's owner, accepted members of its project team, the author of an attached journal or publication, and UNI staff. Nothing on it opens up because you upgraded.
Exclusive pass refers to the competition having an institution registration category, which an institute buys for its students. A personal membership does not grant it.
