Finding courses: how the catalogue is organised

Where do I browse courses on UNI?

The course catalogue is at uni.xyz/courses. There is no Courses entry in the navbar and courses do not come back in site search, so the address is the way in. Type it, or bookmark it once and use the bookmark.

Everything else in the courses app hangs off that page.

The catalogue lists published courses only

A course that is still a draft, in review or archived is not in the catalogue and cannot be enrolled in. Its author can open it while they finish it, nobody else can see it. If someone sent you a course link and it does not load, that is usually why.

Three controls narrow the list

  1. The search box matches a course's title, subtitle and description. It does not read lesson contents and it does not match an instructor's name, so search by subject rather than by person.
  2. The access tabs split the catalogue by what it takes to open a course: All courses, Free, Members, Paid and Institutional. The tab tells you the requirement before you open anything.
  3. The sort menu offers Most enrolled, Newest, Top rated and A to Z. Most enrolled is the default. Results come twelve at a time.

Inside a course, modules hold lessons

Open a course and you get its landing page: what it covers, who teaches it, the ratings, and the full outline. The outline is a list of modules, each holding lessons in an order the author fixed.

A lesson is one of four kinds: a video, a reading, a quiz or an assignment. Some lessons are marked as previews, and a preview opens for anyone, signed in or not. Everything else follows the course's access rule. Enrol before you start, or nothing you do is recorded: Enrolling in a course explains why that matters.

The rest of the courses app

The left sidebar carries the pages that are not the catalogue:

Courses also surface on organization pages

An organization that publishes courses lists them under the Courses tab on its page, and each card opens the course. That is the one place other than the catalogue where courses are gathered together.
