What a topic tab can and cannot do

Why can I not sort or filter the projects on a topic page?

There is no sort control, no filter and no search on any of a topic's content tabs. Competitions, Projects, Journals and Publications are each a plain list that loads more as you scroll, and that is the whole of it.

What to use instead

  1. Go to the main feed for that kind of work. The Projects feed, the Journals feed, the Publications feed and the Competitions feed all carry sorting and filters, and every one of them can be narrowed to a discipline, which is the same thing a topic is. That is the route to "the newest architecture projects" or "competitions closing soon".
  2. Use search when you are after something specific rather than browsing.
  3. Read the counts in the topic header first, to see which tabs have anything in them at all.

The order you get

Only Journals has an order you can rely on, and it is newest first. Projects, Publications and Competitions come back in whatever order the database hands over, which is not by date, not by popularity and not by anything you can set. So do not read the top of those three lists as the newest work or the best of it. It is neither.

Work you have just published may not be there yet

Every topic tab is held for 15 minutes on the server. Something you published a moment ago can take that long to appear under its topic, and a discipline you have just removed can linger for the same stretch. Reloading the page does not shorten it.

If it is still missing after that, the disciplines set on the work are what to check. How a project, journal or publication ends up under a topic walks through it.
