Nothing is uploaded to Inspirations. Every image on that page is already inside something else on UNI: a project page, a journal article, a publication or a competition page. Inspirations gathers those images and shows them on their own, apart from the work they belong to.
Profile pictures and images from the flow builder are left out. Most other images uploaded to the platform can appear.
The words under an image were written by a machine
The tags below each image were not typed by the person who uploaded it. Each image is read once by an automatic analysis, which produces up to 30 descriptive tags, a short description of what the picture shows, whatever text is readable inside it, its 5 dominant colours, and one content type: floor plan, section, elevation, 3D render, site plan, diagram, presentation board, collage, photo or other. Any tags the uploader had already put on the file are kept alongside these.
Two things follow from that. The tags describe how the image looks rather than what the work was about, so a tag can be exactly right about the picture and beside the point about the project. And a tag can simply be wrong: it is one reading of one image, made without the rest of the project for context.
Selecting a tag adds it to your search. Treat it as a way in rather than as a label to trust.
Opening the work behind an image
Select an image and the page it came from opens in a new tab. Some images no longer have a page to open, and selecting those does nothing at all. That is the one place on Inspirations where nothing happening is expected rather than broken.
Saving an image is not available at the moment
The bookmark icon that appears when you hover over an image does not store anything. It fills in, and a message says the image was added to your collection, but nothing is written down and the icon is empty again on your next visit. The same icon on the Media results at uni.xyz/search does nothing whatsoever.
Until that is repaired, there are two ways to keep hold of an image: open the work behind it and bookmark that page, which does save, or note two of the tags shown under the image, since those are the words search matches on.
