Neither address is required, and nothing on UNI reads either of them automatically. You can leave both empty and still buy a membership, pay an entry fee or buy a credit pack. They are a record kept on your account, not a delivery instruction.
The address a trophy or a certificate is actually posted to is the one you type into the award closure form after you win. That form carries its own address fields and copies nothing from your settings.
Checkout never reads either address
The payment page asks for whatever the payment provider needs at the moment you pay. It does not read your settings, so an out of date address there cannot misroute a payment or stop one going through. Nothing else on the platform reads them either: not certificates, not competition entries, not the market.
Where a delivery address is actually taken
When you win an award you are sent a link to an award closure form. It asks for your postal address alongside your payment details, and that is the address the team works from. Updating your settings afterwards does not update a closure you have already submitted, and once a closure reaches Verified or Disbursed you can no longer change it yourself. Same as billing address copies what is saved, not what you are typing
The checkbox reads your last saved billing address, not the text sitting in the billing boxes. If you have just typed a new billing address and have not saved it yet, ticking the box copies the old one over your shipping fields.
Unticking the box does nothing at all. It leaves the copied values where they are and does not put back what was there before. If you tick it by mistake, clear or retype the shipping fields yourself.
The order that works:
- Fill in the billing address.
- Save.
- Tick Same as billing address.
- Save again.
Neither form has a required field
You can save one line and leave the rest empty. The only request the server refuses is one carrying no fields at all. Nothing warns you that an address is half finished, so read it back before you rely on it.
The limits are 255 characters for each address line, 100 for city and for state, and 20 for the postal code. Country is chosen from a list. Where UNI holds no list of states for your country, the state box takes free text.
