Create an account at uni.xyz/accounts/signup. You can register with an email address and a password, or with an existing Google or LinkedIn account.
Sign up with email
- Open the sign up page. The heading reads Create Your Account.
- Fill in your first name, last name, email address and a password, then re-enter the password.
- Press Create Account.
- Open the verification email and follow the link in it.
You have to confirm the address before you can sign in. Until you do, signing in returns "Your email address has not been verified yet", and the sign in page then offers Resend verification email under Need to verify your email?. Verification links stay valid for three days.
If the email has not arrived after a few minutes, check your spam and promotions folders before asking for another one.
Sign up with Google or LinkedIn
Press Continue with Google or Continue with LinkedIn. These two are the only sign in providers on the page. An account made this way is treated as confirmed by the provider, so there is no verification email to wait for.
Facebook is no longer offered as a sign in button. If you created your account with Facebook, use Forgot your password? on the sign in page to set a password, then sign in with your email address and that password from now on.
Limits worth knowing before you try
- New accounts are capped at three per hour from the same internet connection. A class signing up together on one campus network will hit that limit. Spread the sign ups out or use separate connections.
- Repeated failed sign in attempts lock the account for a while: 15 minutes after five attempts, an hour after ten, 24 hours after fifteen. Waiting it out clears the lock, and a successful sign in clears it immediately.
- Password reset links last three days. Asking for a second link does not cancel the first, so if you requested two, either one still works until it expires.
