A competition page has two different registration countdowns, and which one you get depends on how close the deadline is. Neither is an error, and neither disappearing means the deadline moved.
- Seven days or fewer. A red bar across the top of the page, with sharing buttons and a close button on the right.
- Eight to thirty days. No red bar. A single quiet line reading "Registration closes in N days", in the sharing strip further down the page.
- More than thirty days away, or registration already closed. Neither one appears.
Why the red bar vanished
You almost certainly closed it. The close button hides the bar for that competition until you open a new browser tab, and it does not reappear on that page in the meantime. It is not tied to your account, so it comes back in a fresh tab, on another device, and after a browser restart. Nothing about your registration changed.
The other reason a bar stops appearing is that registration closed. The countdown only reads a registration deadline that is still ahead, so once the date passes there is no bar and no quiet line either.
The number is whole days remaining, not calendar days
The count is the time left divided into complete 24 hour blocks, rounded down. "Closes in 3 days" means at least 72 hours remain, not that the deadline falls three dates from now. Registration closes today means under 24 hours are left, which can still be tomorrow's date where you are. Deadlines are enforced in UTC, so work from the exact deadline rather than from the number on the bar when you are close to it.
The figure is worked out when the page loads and does not tick down while you read. Reload to refresh it.
