Magalie Munters
Founder & Architect, OOA | Office O architects, Belgium
OOA | Office O architects is an award-winning multidisciplinary team led by architect/founder Magalie Munters and architect/interior architect Hugo Crombez. Their designs are innovative without losing touch with the roots of architecture: “We start from the fundamental principles (structure, context, program, construction) and play with the architectural elements (form, space, light), sometimes challenging established practices. Spatial perception cannot be underestimated. It can tell the story or create the emotion the architect wants the residents to experience. It taps into the subconscious. We take pride in evolving to master that skill and giving clients more than they expect. The greatest luxury in architecture, according to us, is not to be found in expensive materials or equipment, but rather in the intangible qualities of the spatial experience.”
Akshay Heranjal
Principal Architect,The Purple Ink Studio,India
Akshay Heranjal is the Co-Founder and Principal Architect of ‘The Purple Ink Studio’, a multiple award winning practice in Bengaluru. After having graduated from B.V.B Hubli, he has been privileged to have worked under 3 completely different ‘gurus’, Karan Grover, Sameep Padora and Sanjay Puri, all of whom, who helped him mould into what the studio stands for. Akshay started the studio in 2011 along with Aditi Pai, a Landscape Architect. Considering that both Aditi and Akshay came from different architectural backgrounds, one being extremely rational, aesthetic yet responsive and the other that is based on strong responses to nature and inclusion of natural elements in design, the studio has had passionate influences of both and sees a continuous evolution in exploring the best of both worlds. The studio believes in constantly exploring the parameters of design and blurring the boundaries between architecture, landscape and sustainability. The Studio has won 7 International Awards, 15 Indian Awards and 15 Shortlists in the last 7 years since their inception. They won the most coveted ‘Best Practice in India of 2016’ award from TRENDS EXCELLENCE AWARDS, WADE Asia 2017 Young Architect of the Year, PERSPECTIVE 40under40 ASIA in Hongkong - Listed as one of the 40 creative architects in Asia under the age of 40 who will shape the design world in the decades to come and as the Top 50 Next Gen Architects who will shape India, amongst other numerous National & International Honors.
