Re-think Dupont Circle

Create a landmark in the heart of Washington, D.C.

RESOURCES

You have the chance to conceptualize, design and potentially have a built design and be part of an exhibition at Dupont Underground.

Dupont Underground has just launched its second International Design Competition: Re-Think Dupont Circle. One of the key public spaces in Pierre Charles L’Enfant’s famous urban plan for the nation's capital, Dupont Circle was not built out until the late 19th century and has not seen a significant redesign since the 1940’s when the automobile was ascendant. We feel it’s well past time to rethink Dupont Circle as a social, human-centered, public space.

The competition covers the immediate urban area of Dupont Circle and it takes place at two scales (micro & macro) that must be interwoven through concept and design.

We ask you to reimagine Dupont Circle as a concept and redesign the entrance and its surroundings of Dupont Underground for design to be built. Call for submissions and registration is now open through January 15th, 2020 (EXTENDED).

Jurors: Benedetta Tagliabue, Vesela Sretenovic, Lucrecia Laudi, Julian Hunt, Michael Marshall, Craig Cook, Lorena Bello Gomez, Nancy Hou and Josh De Sousa.
