ART INDUSTRY PICKING UP
Art has been one of the disciplines which have transitioned through time, with which it has endowed a series of changes; starting from a change in mediums, styles and artists. The cycle of change has been concrete evidence of how art is a direct reflection of social changes.
From the era of renaissance paintings to the current age of technological advancements-there is a rapid transition happening worldwide, as digitisation has taken over the current trend.
Digitisation has influenced the art industry with the help of technological advancements which have enabled the artists to create artworks on different platforms and mediums.
Worldwide there is a sudden rise in digital art creation, as the software and platforms are easily available plus they provide a myriad of resources for the artists.
Thus, giving birth to this new form of art.

DIGITAL ART AROUND THE WORLD
Today, the majority of the world population has turned online. Let that be for work, sales, marketing or art purposes.
Everything happens in the digital workspace. In this online world, there is a sea of digital artists creating unique and creative artworks every day.
These artists hail from different regions worldwide, where everyone is narrating their own story through a variety of mediums and backgrounds. Emerging into asynchronous creation of art that can be from any part of the world. Globalisation has led to the empowerment of these artists where they can be seen and share their work with like-minded people. This change has been accepted and integrated into the art world and is now calling for the other disciplines to embrace this new digital art form.
How can we integrate and create a platform that won't just showcase but would honour these artists from all parts of the world?

BRIEF OF THE COMPETITION
Being an artist there is a need for a space that will act as a platform for them to connect, showcase and engage with their community. This space would not only offer everyone a chance to see their artwork but also to engage with the artists beyond the online platform.
This need calls for an architectural solution that will transcend itself beyond the architectural realm by entering into the art world and making a dynamic space for its display and engagement.
Brief: The competition brief calls to challenge your creativity and imagination by creating an exhibition space for digital artists around the world.
The aim of the competition is to create an architectural and technological breakthrough that will transcend through time.

Visual art in all the different mediums: Painting, Sculpture and Architecture
OBJECTIVES
Inclusive space design: Design is carried out in consideration of the variety in the artwork.
Emphasis: How is the design specific to the focused art style?
Colour palette: How is the design colour palette complementing and aiding the process of an exhibition?
Scale: How efficiently is the design able to contain varied and different types of artworks?
SITE

Location: Champlan, France
- Coordinates: 45°28'31.9"N 4°20'55.6"E
- Area: 8,969 sqm
- Height limit: 12m
- FAR (Floor Area Ratio): 0.7
- Ground coverage: 50%
France is known for its historic architecture as well as the culture it reflects. It is visited by millions of tourists every year for the very purpose of experiencing the city’s architecture and experiencing its poetic culture. But France also holds many technology giants and is one of countries to have started experimenting with its technology to not only boost the economy but also revive its culture.
VR, AR and other technological advances are now being used to showcase art and historic cave inscriptions, thus making it an upcoming region to host art in the form of digital mediums. The site is located in Villars surrounded by public activities.
AREA PROGRAMME
The programmatic outline is intended for a batch capacity of 200 people. This is recommended for this challenge. The space ideas are as follows:
- Exhibition spaces: 70 %
- Public gathering/engagement spaces: 20 %
- Services and ancillary spaces: 10 %
Other additional spaces can be added by the participants as per their design needs.
