The Sort by control on your competitions page changes the order you see and nothing else. It is not saved anywhere. Reload the page, or come back tomorrow, and the list is back on Recently Registered. Nobody else sees the order you picked, and it has no effect on your entries or on how they are judged.
The four orders
- Recently Registered. The date you registered the entry, newest first. This is the default.
- Deadline Soonest. The submission deadline of the competition, earliest date first.
- Competition Name A-Z. Alphabetical by competition title.
- Recently Updated. The date the entry itself last changed, newest first. Attaching or swapping a project counts as a change.
Deadline Soonest puts your oldest competitions at the top
This is the one that surprises people. The order runs from the earliest submission date to the latest, and it does not skip dates that have already gone by. On an account with any history, the top of that list is the competition you entered longest ago, not the one you are racing. What is still open sits at the bottom. Entries whose competition has no submission deadline recorded are placed last, after everything that has one.
Sorting happens inside the tab you are on
The order is applied to the entries in the current tab, so Archived sorts separately from the rest, and All sorts across the four unarchived tabs together. Switching tabs keeps your choice of order.
Your whole history is loaded before any of this happens, so the ordering covers every entry you hold rather than the first screenful. Nothing is left out of the sort because it sits further down.
There is no custom order
Entries cannot be dragged, pinned or hidden from this page. The four orders above are the whole of it. If you want a particular entry out of the way, withdrawing it moves it to Archived, which Removing a duplicate entry covers.
