Every pass on the Edit page is charged, and the result of each pass becomes the input for the next. A member who edits five times has paid five times, at 2 credits a pass on Standard or 4 on Match Input. The moment an edit finishes, the result replaces the picture on the canvas and the mask is cleared. Nothing warns you first, and there is no undo on the page.
The credits are gone for good. The images are not: every pass is stored as a job of its own, and you can get the pictures back from uni.xyz/unify/jobs.
What happens the second an edit finishes
- The result is fetched back and set as the main image on the canvas.
- The mask is cleared, so Generate switches off until you paint a new one.
- Your balance reloads, lower by 2 or 4.
From that point the page holds only the newest version. Pressing Generate again edits the edited picture, not the one you uploaded.
Getting an earlier version back
Open Jobs. Each pass is listed as its own entry, with its Input, its Result and a Download Full Resolution button on the result. Because the input of your second pass is the result of your first, every edited version you produced is downloadable as the result of the job that made it. Work backwards through the list until you find the one you want.
There is one exception, and it is the one people ask about. Your original upload is only ever an input. It appears at the top of your first pass, shown at a reduced size for preview, with no download of its own. If you no longer have that file on your own machine, what Jobs can give you is a preview of it rather than the full-resolution picture.
Before you start a run of edits
- Keep your original. It is the only file the page cannot hand back to you at full size.
- Download the result you like before running another pass. Use the download button on the canvas toolbar, or the one in Jobs.
- Put everything you want changed into one mask where you can. Two separate passes over the same picture cost twice; one mask covering both areas costs once.
- Iterate on Standard, finish on Match Input. Standard is 2 credits a pass, so use it while you are still finding the right prompt and the right mask, then run the final pass at Match Input for 4.
A failed pass refunds itself
If an edit fails, the picture on your canvas is left as it was and the credits taken when you pressed Generate are returned automatically. Renders, upscales and edits all refund on failure, as video generation already did. You do not need to keep the job or ask for the credits back.
What is not refunded is a pass that worked but gave you something you did not want. That is a completed job, and it is charged.
