・What is the concept of the project?

We created a chapel to worship nature, which is related to all human lives and has been cultivated in Ho Chi Minh City since ancient times. In Ho Chi Minh City, aquascapes have long been valued. However, in Ho Chi Minh City, water quality is deteriorating due to urbanization. There, we pray to nature and nurture an awareness of cherishing it.

・different levels (architectural, site,City)

architecture

I thought that the necessary conditions for a place of prayer were silence, a dark space, an object of worship, and a direction. I studied various directions, but even if I diverted my gaze, my consciousness would be dispersed. Therefore, I thought that a space where people could face each other through plants would be appropriate. By making the plan a V-shaped building and designing it as if the plants were avalanche inside, we could appreciate the plants in various sizes and gradations, and create a comfortable space inside like the outside. Thought. Ho Chi Minh City has a hot and sunny climate, so we created a comfortable semi-outdoor space by blocking direct sunlight with long eaves and allowing the wind to enter the garden.

site

When entering the entrance from the main road, there is a wall that divides the area into two. This has a function like a barrier to enter another world, and the quietness increases as you advance and go deeper.

City

I hope that this will put an end to the destruction of nature caused by industrial wastewater, which is a problem in Ho Chi Minh City, and that people will once again take care of nature.

・How many iterations were attempted before arriving at the final result?

→about 20 times

・What is the design review method?

→Modeling by Rhinoceros and verification by rendering by Lumion

・How was the program condensed into the final?

First, I thought about what a prayer space that is not biased towards any religion should be. During that time, I learned about the problems of greenery and water pollution that are being lost in Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, I thought it would be appropriate to create a space where people can face nature and offer prayers. This is because nature is essential to the environment surrounding all human beings. Therefore, we extracted four essences of previous chapels, and considered a shape that satisfies them, with a V-shaped plan, and conceived a space where greenery avalanches into the interior.

Next, we considered the layout and traffic lines to suit the site, environment, and usage that would be required, and thought of an exterior that would suit the climate of Ho Chi Minh City.

・What and how did you choose the material?

→I chose concrete. In order to make the plants and water stand out, we adopted the texture of concrete.

・How were specific goals sought to be achieved?

→It is a space that creates a sense of faith in nature, and I thought about what kind of space would be suitable for the climate of Ho Chi Minh City.

・What are your expansion plans for the project?

→ Make time to face nature and cultivate the feeling of cherishing them. People will have a sense of crisis about water pollution and reduction of greenery due to population increase, and foster awareness that each person must protect the environment.

・How will the project change over time? etc

→People cherish nature, and in Ho Chi Minh City, we will foster a sense of symbiosis with nature. And various people will be able to be equal through nature.
