Climatic Responsive Architecture – Sustainable Design In Arid Regions (Hot Desert Climate)
Sustainable design in arid regions demands a balance of macro and micro strategies. Macro analysis shows Saudi Arabia using advanced materials like GRC panels, terracotta, and steel brise soleils for insulation and solar control, while India relies on sandstone, jali screens, and lime plaster for natural cooling. Micro analysis highlights how fine-tuning materials, orientation, and thermal performance enhances climate resilience. The study concludes that sustainable design must integrate traditional wisdom with modern technologies to address climate change. Further research expands to regions like Algeria, Egypt, Taiwan, and the UAE, where vernacular and modern practices suggest future material innovations for extreme heat, water scarcity, and energy efficiency.
