Akanksha Satpute_Architecture Portfolio
This portfolio is a reflection of how my understanding of architecture has evolved over time. It has taught me to look beyond buildings and drawings, and to appreciate how spaces are influenced by people, their routines, and everyday experiences. I enjoy translating these observations into thoughtful design and continue to approach each project as an opportunity to learn and grow.
Apartments and Climate Adaptation in Mumbai
This research investigates how Development Control Regulations (DCRs) have shaped apartment housing in Mumbai. It reveals that older apartments offer greater spatial flexibility for climate adaptation, while newer developments prioritise built-up area, reducing adaptability and long term climate resilience.

Apartments and Climate Adaptation in Mumbai
The thesis explores how Mumbai's DCRs affect climate adaptability in apartment housing. Through comparative building studies, it reveals the loss of spatial adaptability over time and proposes a climate-responsive redevelopment framework integrating adaptable housing, flood resilience, passive environmental design, and revised planning regulations.
Very good show ..! keep it up ..! All the best ..!
A highly rigorous and well-developed thesis that successfully connects housing, climate adaptation, lived experience, and planning regulations. The integration of research with architectural and policy strategies is particularly strong; further quantitative validation could make the proposal even more convincing.

A strong and comprehensive thesis that successfully connects fishing infrastructure, local economy, cultural identity, and public life. Further technical validation of the environmental and operational strategies could make this highly relevant proposal even stronger.

The Civic Imagination: Re-evaluating Rochdale Town Hall Through a Pattern Language for Contemporary Civic Life
A Grade I-listed Victorian Gothic landmark through Christopher Alexander’s A Pattern Language. By overlaying ten spatial patterns onto the building’s plans and comparing it with Manchester and Oldham Town Halls, the study reveals how monumental civic heritage can be sensitively reactivated for inclusive, present-day community use without erasing its historic character. It argues for a shift from “preservation-as-static” to “heritage-as-catalyst,” using low-impact, reversible interventions.
Just read this dissertation and can’t stop thinking about it. The way pattern language becomes a vocabulary for how communities imagine together this is genuinely original work. Brilliant.
Thank you Peter, really glad that central idea came through for you. Those moments when someone mirrors back what you were reaching for mean a lot! ❤️
The argument that civic imagination isn’t abstract but embedded in architecture and that we can read it through pattern language is genuinely elegant. Good going!!☺️☺️
Great work! Keep it going
Thank you ❤️
Revitalization of Post-Industrial Landscapes Through Ecological Design This project presents a forward-thinking approach to revitalizing post-industrial land through sustainable ecological design.
