THEME OF THE COMPETITION

For thousands of years, humans have imagined leaving Earth and visiting worlds outside of Earth. That day finally came on July 20th 1969, when Neil Armstrong became the first man to step on the moon. Along with Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, Neil Amstrong and Michael Collins, the Apollo 11 mission achieved a feat that revolutionized the world.

The world's space industry in a large part is now led by young people who watched Apollo 11. It inspired an age that started to see the reality of going to space. Since then space missions and discoveries have brought human curiosity to venture into the unknown. This event marks the inception in the history of the human civilization of planetary exploration.

This also marks the first step of humans progressing towards a new space age which inspired entire space programs in coming years. In the age of today where space discoveries are now another story on news channels, and people wonder more about their daily feats than space travel.

The design challenge is to ignite, inform and remind people of this exceptional feat through graphic/poster.  The aim is to re-inspire the hope in space explorations by illustrating the feat of the Apollo 11 mission.

OBJECTIVES

  • Awareness: Primary aim is to inform and spread information about this theme in an interesting way.
  • Expression: The graphic should effectively communicate its intent and idea to the viewer.
  • Lucidity: Clarity in composition and intent to communicate the idea better.
  • Visual Delivery/Aesthetics: A distinct visual language to help the graphic stand out for better communication.

DELIVERABLES

You have to deliver a graphic/visual outcome representing the given theme, based on the following outlines. Only one final graphic design needs to be submitted. The image should be of size [2800px x 3200px] in portrait or landscape digital format (JPEG only). The graphic may be entirely hand-drawn and rendered, digitally created, or a combination of both. The usage of photographs, stylized/credited or otherwise, directly is strictly not allowed. The use of lassoed graphics lifted from an existing image is limited to half of the total graphic. (The guidelines are indicative, and are placed only to reduce plagiarized artworks – any infringement detected or reported will be notified, and may be removed from competition if found guilty).

The list of deliverables are:
