Javier González-Campaña joined Balmori Associates in 1998 and has had responsibility for managing projects including: Yale Engineering Research Building and Farmington Canal Greenway in New Haven, CT; the Botanical Research Institute of Texas in Fort Worth, TX; Campa de los Ingleses park in Bilbao, Spain; the Headquarters for VIOL in São Paulo, Brazil; Beale Street Landing Park in Memphis, TN and the New York Police Academy, in New York City, NY. Javier is also responsible for the plant reviews and elaboration of planting guidelines for multiple projects in the office. In May 2001, Javier received a research grant from the Hixon Center for Urban Ecology to study and compare the architectural, economic and natural aspects of the High Line in New York City with the Promenade Plantée in Paris. In the summer of 2003, he was an intern in the City Hall of Paris where he had the opportunity to work in multidisciplinary teams on Parisians projects such as “Quartiers Verts” and “Paris Plage”. Javier holds a Master of Science in Urban Ecology from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies (2003) and a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the School of Forest and Agricultural Science at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, in Argentina.

Markus Jatsch is an award-winning architect and urban planner with a background in landscape architecture and fine arts and over 20 years of professional experience. He is partner and design director at Martha Schwartz Partners (MSP) where he also oversees all research activities. He has collaborated with Martha Schwartz since over 15 years and has worked with David Chipperfield Architects before joining MSP. Markus Jatsch teaches frequently at international design schools, most recently as Visiting Professor at the Politecnico di Milano, the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is the author of “Debordered Space: Indeterminacy within the Visual Perception of Space” (Stuttgart 2004) and “Landscape Art and Urbanism” (Stuttgart 2018). His work has been widely featured internationally in publications as well as in museum and gallery exhibitions and he lectures frequently on sustainable cities and the public realm. Markus Jatsch is the recipient of several awards and honors such as the Fulbright Commission Award and the City of Munich Culture Award. He is a chartered member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Bavarian Chamber of Architects and an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
