FAQ
Q1- What was the concept behind the project?
The main idea of our design is to bring home and school together by considering their common aspects by continuing the silhouettes of the houses that exist in the field.
Q2- How was a specific objective attempted to be met by revisiting schools and educational systems?
While teachers and students, who are the actors of the school, are described as experienced and inexperienced according to their age in the existing education system, we argue that each person has different experiences regardless of their age with the era of technology and we believe that everyone can teach each other. We think that the best example of this interaction takes place in homes.
Q3- What was the intent behind the organization of elements across various levels (Architectural, Site, Urban)?
It is aimed to go beyond the conventional school type and bring together the school spaces on the scale of the community of houses. While doing this, the sidewalk has been widened to let people of all ages in. After that, a level difference was created in order to specialize the areas where education will be conducted within the school.
Q4- What are the programmatic features of your school apart from the academic oriented requirements?
Our school includes exhibition areas, workshop areas and amphitheatres that people can use both for education and for other purposes besides the academic oriented requirements.
Q5- What are the impacts of your design to the surroundings?
Our school creates a space where every person living in the surrounding area can spend time together. At the same time, our school aims not to distort the configuration of the area because it continues the silhouettes of the houses in the field.
Q6- What are the conventional spaces that have been redesigned for your school?
The corridors where students like to spend the most time, circulations to get from one place to another, and the courtyards have been redesigned by creating spaces which people can enjoy and interact with each other.
To sum up, school is the place where people necessarily meet, consciously and unconsciously establish a flow of information with each other. On the other hand, the home can be considered as an educational environment in which a person learns the most basic things about life and more. Eventually, these two places share a lot of common points like this. Therefore, this project aims to bring home and school together by considering their common aspects. While doing this, it is aimed to go beyond the conventional school type and bring together the school spaces on the scale of the community of houses. It is aimed to continue the silhouettes of the houses that exist in the field during the formation phase of the architectural spaces. Composing the house and school together, which is the design idea of the project, supports the consideration of the young and elderly interaction at home. For this reason, the use of the spaces and roads around the project area according to age has been researched and it has been seen that there are no places to bring elderly and young people together. With this point of view, the project embraces the street.
