Sculpted Interior Design Redefining the Dining Experience in Dubai

ONDA is a contemporary restaurant interior project in Dubai that reimagines dining as a spatial journey shaped by elevation, material richness, and atmospheric lighting. Designed by BONE, the project introduces a dynamic interior topography that subtly choreographs movement, sightlines, and social interaction, transforming a compact 180-square-meter footprint into an immersive and memorable dining environment.

At the heart of ONDA’s interior concept is a sequence of carefully calibrated platforms that create varied seating elevations throughout the restaurant. This layered spatial strategy allows the bar to maintain a discreet yet commanding presence, seamlessly integrated into the dining landscape rather than dominating it. Each level offers guests a distinct perspective, ensuring that no two dining experiences feel the same.

Material Palette: Warmth, Texture, and Visual Depth

Materiality plays a defining role in shaping ONDA’s identity. A continuous arrangement of deep red leather sofas by Living Divani wraps the interior, establishing both visual continuity and intimate comfort. These plush seating elements frame the dining area while offering uninterrupted views across the space, reinforcing a sense of openness despite the restaurant’s compact scale.

The elevated platforms are clad in leathered Irish Green Stone, introducing a tactile surface that contrasts elegantly with the softness of the upholstery. This stone finish adds depth and durability while anchoring the interior with a grounded, natural presence. Surrounding walls and sculptural volumes are finished in warm cherry wood, whose rich tones soften the spatial composition and create a refined dialogue between bold color and organic materiality.

Lighting as Atmosphere and Architecture

Lighting design is integral to ONDA’s immersive character. A luminous curtain backdrop behind the bar establishes a theatrical focal point, infusing the space with drama and visual intrigue. The lighting concept, developed by Fabraca Studios, is subtly embedded within fiberglass planters and architectural elements, casting a soft, diffused glow across key zones.

Rather than relying on overt fixtures, illumination is woven into the architecture itself, enhancing material textures and accentuating changes in elevation. This layered lighting approach introduces warmth and intimacy, reinforcing the restaurant’s welcoming ambiance while highlighting its sculptural qualities.

A Playful Yet Refined Dining Landscape

ONDA’s interior design celebrates the interplay of light, material, and spatial variation. By combining elevated seating platforms, tactile finishes, and atmospheric lighting, the project creates a dining environment that feels both playful and sophisticated. The result is a restaurant interior that encourages exploration, conversation, and prolonged engagement, offering guests an experience that extends far beyond the table.

As a contemporary hospitality project in Dubai, ONDA exemplifies how thoughtful interior architecture can transform limited space into a richly layered environment, where design enhances not only aesthetics but also the social and sensory dimensions of dining.
