Design Problem

Design problems form the foundation of meaningful work. They emerge from observation of real needs, whether in public spaces, communities, or systems, and require designers to research, question assumptions, and develop solutions that account for multiple perspectives and constraints.Members explore design problems across scales and contexts: from reimagining transit infrastructure and public gathering spaces to mapping food systems and documenting creative communities. The work demonstrates how defining the right problem often matters more than rushing to solutions.
