OVERVIEW

Rapid and unchecked urban development has meant that today more than 50% of the global population live in cities. While questions of poverty and insufficient resources arise, social isolation is a real concern in the modern city.

A medley of cultures, how can cities ensure the protection of all its identities and preserve the standards of urban life? Can the tangible and intangible concepts of culture grow to be a come a collective identity of the culture and the community?

Additionally, building on culture as a resource for sustainable development and increased community participation, can we say that the promotion of cultural expressions through art and performance become the pillars of sustainable urban development, thus building cities that are safe and resilient.

Focusing on the most basic of frameworks (typologies) of built spaces, UNI introduces Architecture (A- Z).

‘P for Public Architecture’ aims to bring together global design talents that explore one of our most primary needs as a population.

Inviting entries of modern learning spaces that range from pavilions to galleries to everything in between, this theme aims to recognize spaces which have evolved with the utmost understanding of its user groups, its function, its adaptability and its environmental responsibility.
