ArchWeekly: Questions for the coming decades

Program Overview

Introducing ArchWeekly - Pen your mind

Well...architects are very familiar with the 'daily' of architecture, but we at UNI think it's time to look at it from a fresh perspective.

Architecture news, by and large, is monopolized by large blogs and limited editors taking a pick of what's important and what's not. ‘ArchWeekly’ is an alternative form of architecture news made by creatives, for the creatives. Every week we launch a new subject with a prompt that invites discussions, dialogue, ideas or news in a relevant format. This alternative experiment is aimed at not just architectural writers, but invites every architect to WRITE about things that matter and enable everyone to start sharing ideas with the community.

UNI is a platform dedicated to showcasing the creativity and skills of students, professionals and designers from around the world. UNI hosts numerous competitions for designers to give them the opportunity to create, represent and receive recognition for their work. However, our journey over the past 4 years has been towards a more visually weighted format, where textual ideas trail. With ArchWeekly, we wish to bring this to the forefront again.

12 weeks - 12 topics - 1 online writing event.

ArchWeekly is a series of weekly contests inviting architects, writers, designers, theorists, journalists, and thinkers to express their ideas and concepts with the written word. The ‘thinking room’ will enable people across various disciplines to articulate and share their observations, learnings and insights on topics relevant and trending in the designing community.

As the architecture industry strengthens its online presence, ‘ArchWeekly’ strives to be an ever-evolving information repository where designers can learn from each other. ArchWeekly will bring writing in the lead, so it can be employed to achieve the above objectives, and encourage designers to explore the strength of written content.

In its outset, ArchWeekly wishes to reinforce how critical writing and thinking are a crucial factor in fostering a holistic growth of the online architectural community.

Program Objectives

ArchWeekly strives to promote writing as an effective communication tool in the architecture and design discipline. Designers often use visual cues and pictographs to convey their intention, and more often than not, words remain as a subset in any proposal.

It strives to gather enthusiasts across different disciplines to take part in creating a new literary interface and share ideas on a global scale. Several topics will be explored in the series of contests with awards granted for best efforts.
