Dubravka House: gmb. | Modern Timber and Concrete Home in Bratislava
Dubravka House by gmb. in Bratislava integrates concrete and timber, blending with forested terrain, cubic volumes, panoramic views, daylight-filled interiors.
Dubravka House, designed by gmb., is a contemporary residence located on the outskirts of Dúbravka, Bratislava, directly bordering a serene forest. Strategically positioned in the center of a descending terrain, the house connects seamlessly with the public road while opening up to spectacular views of the Little Carpathians and the Dúbravka neighborhood below.

The design emphasizes harmony with the environment, both in scale and materiality. Exterior and interior surfaces are unified through the thoughtful use of concrete and timber, creating visual continuity. The composition of cubic volumes establishes a clear architectural language, balancing openness with intimate spaces.

Structurally, the house sits on a reinforced concrete foundation tub, into which prefabricated CLT panels are integrated. Its asymmetric placement within the foundation separates functional outdoor areas, including a terrace and a carport, while a longitudinal walkway with a canopy frames the home and connects these spaces.

The interior layout is organized vertically into day and night zones. The entrance from the carport leads to the technical room, workspace, and hygiene areas. The living room extends along the east-facing side, visually linking to an exterior atrium and the dining room, which features a double-height gallery. Southern and western light flows into the space, enhancing its ambiance throughout the day.

On the upper floor, children’s bedrooms are oriented east and south, while the master bedroom includes a private wardrobe, toilet, and bathroom with panoramic forest views. The house is furnished with high-quality manufacturers including Hansgrohe, Artemide, Axor, FLOS, HAY, Slovaktual, and Villeroy & Boch, ensuring both functionality and elegance.

Dubravka House exemplifies modern, sustainable design through its integration with the natural landscape, precise materiality, and daylight-focused interiors, offering a luxurious yet environmentally conscious living experience.
