Modern Weekend House Design by FGMF Architects
Explore FGMF's modern Carvalho House, seamlessly connecting architecture, nature, and elegant interior design for relaxation.
Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Porto Feliz, Brazil, the Carvalho House stands as a testament to modern architecture and thoughtful design. Crafted by the renowned FGMF architects, this weekend retreat captures the essence of a contemporary living experience, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces.

Architectural Synthesis
The design concept revolves around a meticulous investigation into the program organization for a weekend house. The expansive flat plot facing a serene lake serves as the canvas for a modern masterpiece. Large glass panels, reminiscent of classical modernist houses, dominate the majority of spaces, establishing a visual connection between the interior and the breathtaking external surroundings.

Elemental Composition
A synthetic approach defines the architectural composition, featuring two parallel exposed concrete slabs – one serving as the floor and the other as the roof. Between these slabs, carefully inserted opaque volumes, clad in oxidized copper strips, create a harmonious angular relationship within the overall house plan. MLC wooden brises play a pivotal role, offering solar control and privacy while enhancing the aesthetic appeal.

Landscape Integration
Collaborating with landscapist Alex Hanazaki, the architects have seamlessly integrated the house with its surroundings. The gardens boast an intricate flooring design using concrete tiles of various shapes, complemented by lush vegetation including pata-de-vaca and jabuticaba trees. An infinity pool, strategically positioned to face the lake, further amplifies the connection to nature.

Interior Elegance
Beyond its architectural prowess, the Carvalho House embraces a carefully curated interior. A blend of contemporary and classic furniture choices, featuring pieces like the Fardos armchair by Dpot, Zalszupin designs, and FGMF's signature Paliteiro table, creates a unique and inviting atmosphere. The house serves as a pure vacation retreat, designed to cater to the ultimate enjoyment and relaxation of its occupants.

In conclusion, the Carvalho House stands as a modern marvel, embodying the principles of architectural synthesis, landscape integration, and interior elegance.
