Unveiling the Hovering House

The Architectural Vision

The Hovering House emerges from a collaboration between Modo Designs and interior designer Anarr Gunjaria, with a clear vision: to craft a space that seamlessly blends the requirements of three generations under one roof. The design focuses on creating an L-shaped layout that maximizes openness and integrates a hovering mass to ensure the house feels both expansive and interconnected.

A Symphony of Spaces

Occupying a 9000 sq ft plot within a gated community, the Hovering House is a masterpiece of spatial organization. Its ground level is compact, allowing for an extensive green area, while the upper levels extend outwards, minimizing the ground footprint. This design strategy not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also promotes a sense of openness and connection to nature.

The Heart of the Home

At the core of the house is a central court, flanked by a semi-open verandah. This central area is pivotal in facilitating spatial flow and inviting natural light into the home, creating warm and inviting living spaces. From the moment one steps into the compact foyer, the house unfolds in a series of interconnected spaces - from the formal drawing area to the living spaces, and out to the verandah and dining area, each space flows into the next, yet retains its distinct identity.

Living Spaces Redefined

The Hovering House is designed with flexibility in mind. Sliding doors separate the drawing area from the living space, allowing these areas to be merged into a singular, expansive space for special occasions. The design extends this philosophy to the outdoor areas as well, with a deck below the hovering slab serving as the perfect venue for outdoor gatherings.

A Home for Generations

The layout meticulously accommodates the bedrooms and personal spaces for each family member. The ground floor houses the parents' bedroom, while the upper floor features the son’s and granddaughter’s rooms, connected through a cozy living area. An art studio and guest bedroom also find their place on this level, each designed with an eye for privacy and connectivity to the outdoor green spaces.
