The EA Residence by Jacobsen Arquitetura is a masterpiece of modern pavilion house design, seamlessly blending architecture with nature. Located in Porto Feliz, Brazil, this 3,660 m² weekend home serves as a sanctuary for a family while embracing the landscape’s natural beauty and enhancing indoor-outdoor living experiences.
Site and Concept: Integrating Architecture with Nature
The residence sits atop a sloped plot, strategically placed to preserve the natural topography and maximize views of the surrounding hills and condominium landscape. Jacobsen Arquitetura employs a linear layout, positioning the intimate and social wings along intersecting axes. This arrangement emphasizes the concept of a pavilion house, characterized by open, fluid spaces that integrate with lush gardens.
Architectural Design: A Symphony of Simplicity and Elegance
Pavilion Structure
The design is defined by two horizontal planes: a garden slab slightly elevated from the ground and a wide eave with chamfered overhangs. These elements frame programmatic volumes and vertical brise-soleils, creating rhythm and visual continuity.
Promenade Architecturale
Inspired by the concept of Promenade Architecturale, the residence offers a journey of discovery. Guests are greeted by a cobblestone path leading to a 13.5-meter-wide porte-cochère. Pivoting wooden doors open to an internal garden, a central node from which social, intimate, and guest areas radiate.
Interior Spaces: Warm, Functional, and Connected
Living and Dining Areas
Large glass panels dissolve boundaries between indoors and outdoors, connecting living and dining rooms to shaded balconies under a 4.35-meter overhang. Natural light and cross ventilation enhance the spaces, while wooden furnishings by Brazilian designers reflect the simplicity of a country home.
Gourmet Balcony
The gourmet balcony features enclosed glass panels, versatile seating areas, and a cooking counter. Wooden panels cleverly conceal access to the lavatory and pantry.
Entertainment and Wellness Zones
A separate volume houses entertainment and wellness facilities, including a gym, saunas, and a massage room. An ornamental pond and landscaped gardens complete the experience, offering a tranquil environment for relaxation.
Materiality: Sustainable Elegance
Natural Materials
