A Structure Rooted in Nature and History

Trappudden Vindbåk Wind Shelter is strategically positioned along a hiking trail in a protected coastal nature reserve. The region, shaped by centuries of land uplift, features striking shingle fields covered in ancient lichens. The design of the shelter takes inspiration from historical sea marks, particularly beacons once used to guide sailors. The structure’s height corresponds with the sea level when the island was first inhabited, and each section of its façade represents a century of land uplift.
