Abbas Elmualim

Professor Elmualim is the Chair of the Department of Architectural Engineering, University of Sharjah, UAE. Prior to that, he was Professor and Head of Discipline of Construction and Project Management at UniSA, Australia. He spent most of his academic career working at the University of Reading, UK. His academic interest lies in the juncture of integrative approaches to design, construction and facilities management, with a sustainability, digital technologies and globalization concentration, that viewed from a broad socio-technical systems perspective. Mariam Hassan is a lecturer at the University of Sharjah, UAE, since 2009, holding a MAS in Architecture, in Methodologies in Urban and Architectural Design Education from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ). She believes architectural engineering is a special discipline where a combination of creativity and building technology intertwine to satisfy the human and built environment.
