11People's Choice AwardEcological SalvationRIGS are about to be shut down, represent permanent industrial scars, monuments to humanity's past SINS. Parts of it were transformed by them, one by one, disintegrated, transformed, unrecognizable. But people seem to have forgotten this history and need to be reminded again. We plan to remind the pilgrims of the past and cherish the peace of today.
91WinnerKibo no Sakura Cultural CenterThe name of our project is Kibo no Sakura. Kibo meaning Hope and Sakura meaning Cherry Blossoms, the national flowers of Japan. Both these words really drive our project. Kibo no Sakura makes the culture of Shirakawa more permanent and allows the residents especially the younger population and tourists to be more involved.

138People's Choice AwardShirakawa-go Cultural CentreThe Shirakawa-go Cultural Centre embodies the traditions and history of the isolated village of Shirakawa-go while presenting them in a new and contemporary manner.
10WinnerZENITHThe form of the exhibition centre was based on three main ideas: digital art, the concept of Plato's cave and humanity's approach to places of worship. Project references to ancient ritual monuments, it creates cuboid menhirs, emphasizing the center of the building. They become an integral part of the landscape exposing the natural surroundings.
1People's Choice AwardJazz YorkJazz York is designed using these founding principles of jazz music; improvisation, and change. Without either of these, jazz becomes conservative, and can it really be called jazz if it's conservative. While only trying to complement the performance space, the form is built around how the interior wants to look; pointing the viewer's eyes towards the stage.
2Editor's ChoiceFire SakeTime flows gently at the sake house, with the building and garden nearly unchanged in contrast to the fast moving city. The sake house fills up with all kinds of people, bringing their varied ages and cultures to the table for a time of conversation and drinks.
