About
Bijoy Ramachandran is an architect and urban designer. He is a partner at Hundredhands, a widely recognized design studio based in Bangalore. Bijoy has a Bachelors degree in Architecture from BMS College, Bangalore University and a Masters degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA, in Architecture & Urbanism. He also attended the Glenn Murcutt Masterclass. Bijoy has been a panelist at the annual all-India undergraduate thesis review, the Kurula Varkey Forum, at CEPT, Ahmedabad, and is currently the Design Chair in the Department of Architecture, BMS College of Architecture, Bangalore. Apart from architecture he has also made three films. ‘Architecture & the City: A Bangalore Perspective’, a documentary feature he made on professional practice in the city in 2005. In 2008, he produced ‘Doshi’, a documentary feature on the Indian architect B.V. Doshi, directed by Premjit Ramachandran. The film has been screened nationally and internationally and was an official selection at the Architectural Film Festival, Rotterdam, 2009 and the Architect Africa Film Festival, South Africa, 2010. The film is also now part of the archives at the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris. In 2019, Premjit and Bijoy made ‘Doshi: The Second Chapter’, a series of conversations with Mr. Doshi on life after 90 and the Pritzker recognition.
