4Editor's ChoicePearls of Green The concept of Miegakura proposed by the project was originally adapted from the book Flatland. Later Miegakura was used to describe the composition of Chinese landscape painting and Japanese landscape design, which makes use of the clever relationship between hiding and revealing to make a series of connected landscapes gradually appear in layers.
9Form Follows ClimateMy design uses three similarly shaped buildings graduated in height and differentiated by green play areas. A wooden wall serving as a physical barrier to the street clearly defines the buildings as one entity. The double pitched roof resembles a family home rendering the design welcoming towards children while making use of its climatic advantages.
8Intercultural Creative District in DurbanThe project consists of three levels of drafting: CITY| DISTRICT| BUILDING. The work not only responds to the issue of a multicultural society but also touches on the borderline of the perception of African cities, defined as the most dynamic, vibrant and places of new architectural typologies and innovative technologies.
