Laura Bertapelle

Laura grew up in Port Orchard, Washington where she began her journey in the ceramic arts in 2002, continuing to hone her skills throughout her K-12 academic career. In high school she decided to turn her skills and interests into a career by attending Rhode Island School of Design in 2012.Soon after beginning her schooling, she discovered wood and its properties, which inspired her to major in Furniture Design. Working directly with materials and understanding their properties and capabilities is a core necessity in her design process. Through experimentation, she begins exploring processes that expand the material's application beyond their typical use, working to seamlessly integrate material and process to achieve a final form equaling a whole which is more than the sum of its components.
