Dr. Majd Musa holds a PhD in architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. She is an assistant professor of architecture and urbanism at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Her research interest is contemporary architecture and urbanism with a focus on globalizing Middle Eastern cities. She is the author of Amman: Gulf Capital, Identity, and Contemporary Megaprojects (London and New York: Routledge, 2017 and 2018). She is a Member of the Architecture Division of Jordan Engineers Association, Jordan, an International Associate of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), USA, a Member of the American Planning Association (APA), USA, and a Member of the Society of Architectural Historians, USA. Dr. Ahmad Sukkar, a British Syrian academic and architect, is a visiting assistant professor at the University of Sharjah. He was an Aga Khan Fellow at MIT, a Mellon Fellow at AUB, a Fellow at OIB, a visiting lecturer at the University of Cambridge, and an Imam Bukhari Fellow at the University of Oxford. He has worked at leading architectural offices in the Middle East and the UK, including Zaha Hadid Architects. He completed his PhD and MRes at the University of London in architectural humanities and cultural studies, MArch at the Architectural Association in architecture and urbanism, and PGDip and BArch at Damascus University. He has been shortlisted for the Mohamed Makiya Prize 2020 (Middle Eastern Architectural Personality of the Year).
