What the project does is to take seemingly opposing actors and evaluate their contrasting nature to create an in-between that makes it possible to appreciate and live between differences.

From demonic creatures leading you into the swamp to leave you stranded, to mysterious lights believed to be omens of death, swamps have a very rich history of provoking mystical experiences. The educational center will be a space preserving the heritage of folk stories.

It should pay homage to the technological achievements and history of the site, repay the debt to nature that has been depleted at the site, and be a place where visitors will come and perceive both the historical significance and the driving and scientific part with its visitor character.
91WinnerKibo no Sakura Cultural CenterThe name of our project is Kibo no Sakura. Kibo meaning Hope and Sakura meaning Cherry Blossoms, the national flowers of Japan. Both these words really drive our project. Kibo no Sakura makes the culture of Shirakawa more permanent and allows the residents especially the younger population and tourists to be more involved.
