About
Neil studied architecture at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa graduating in 1994 with distinction. Following his studies, he worked for various practices in Sydney, Australia until moving to London in 1998. He became a UK registered architect in 2000 and set up his own studio in London in 2013. Neil is passionate about designing homes. He is fascinated about the minutiae that make up people’s lives and draws inspiration from his client's hopes and dreams for how they can live better, in well-designed surroundings. Working with historic properties in London, Neil’s work seeks to transform aged properties into light filled contemporary places that enrich people’s lives and create warm spaces they love to call home. Through a phenomenological approach to creating spaces, Neil's holistic approach draws on the sensory elements that make up one's engagement with architecture. Elements of a place are explored and incorporated allowing the senses of sight, sound, smell and touch to augment one's experience of architecture. With the belief that in order to live well, one must feel connected to nature. Neil's work aims to bring attention to the landscape that envelope and connect the surroundings where his homes are placed. His work is bespoke to the people who commission the projects and the context where they sit. Built on timeless principles of quality and craftsmanship that allows the work to endure.
