In 2012 he co‑founded Miscellaneous Projects, LLC with Laura Coombs as a small, multidisciplinary studio. The practice takes on projects in architecture, product, graphic, and furniture design, using a mix of traditional techniques and tools such as CNC milling, parametric modeling, and material research. By combining methods from different fields, the studio often arrives at solutions that feel unexpected—a new way of joining materials, a hybrid form, or a fabrication process that simplifies production.At Pratt Institute, Robert serves as co‑director of the Center for Design Research in Architecture (d.r.a.). In that capacity, he oversees research that looks at how geometry, material properties, and fabrication technology interact. Recent projects have explored generative geometry, sustainable material systems, and workflow development for digital manufacturing.Robert has taught a range of courses in architecture and design at several schools, including Pratt, Columbia GSAPP, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the New York College of Technology (Architectural Technologies), City College of New York, and Brooklyn College. His teaching portfolio includes design studios, computational design and fabrication seminars, fashion‑design labs, architectural representation, and software development. Across these roles, he emphasizes hands‑on making, clear visual communication, and the practical integration of emerging tools with established design principles.
