About

Part 1 Architecture Assistant, illustrator, and freelancer. My approach to designing within architecture has ‘change’ as its focus, researching each site in depth. I not only analyse the immediate site but also look at the bigger picture, focusing on factors such as the community, social issues, and infrastructure. Ultimately, I aim to determine what needs changing and then see what I can design to create that change.I put much importance on hand drawing during the designing process. I have always had the belief that the individual’s imagination is only limited by the hand’s creativity. In contrast, the computer (still a crucial tool for finalising a design) limits this through the software used. I utilise my illustration methodology to guide and influence my communication of ideas within architectural practice. Through the use of hand drawing, digital painting, and model making, I can explore and grow my ability to deliver a clear, concise, and compelling narrative. The research which has developed my academic projects focusses on the expansion of Notopia, a pandemic of homogeny in architecture. Krier’s “The Architecture of Community” and Minton’s “Notopia: Who is the city for?” drive my fundamental principles. Studying Nairn’s “Outrage” and Unger’s “The Dialectic City,” coupled with my previous placement and practice, is encouraging the development of this interest, culminating in my desire to study this further as part of my Masters next year.
