About
Kamran Afshar Naderi graduated from Italy and university professor since 1994, is the co-founder of the most influential Iranian architectural magazine, Memar (1997). He has published three books: Istituzioni collective Nelle Citta’ Islamiche (Genoa - 1987), Iranian Architecture (Tehran - 2003), The Gardens of Paradise (Rome - 2007) and over 150 articles. His articles, interviews, and ideas have been published in Iran, Italy, Germany, England, Kuwait, Turkey, Cyprus, Switzerland, USA and Hong Kong (in the process). He has chaired jury sessions for several architectural prizes and competitions. He is the co-founder of the prestigious “Memar Award”, (since 2001). Afshar Naderi delivers lectures about architectural theory and criticism. He teaches design process at university. His recent teaching method consists of disclosing fundaments of the design process through creative and unconventional exercises. His key points in architecture are “creativity”, “critical approach” and to “explore in depth” and through these issues, he explains the subjects of “idea”, “form”, “space” and “place”. He explains the common roots of creative thinking in the different fields of knowledge, through a cross comparison among architecture, music, painting, neuroscience, anthropology, archeology, history of science and technology, poetry and so on. His writings are used as a textbook in design courses at several universities.
