Diera market proposal
These phrases accurately define Deira in Dubai: vibrant and touristic, crowded and alive. For my third-year studio design project proposal, I investigate how an architectural form can embrace these characteristics through an urban market and food hall. Inspired by the city’s dynamic movements and vibrance and unlike the traditional Diera orthogonal markets, my design incorporates gently curved and parametric elements to generate a sense of adventure. From here, we picture a futuristic approach to the market that boosts visitors’ perceptions of fluidity and dynamicity via the interplay of form, light, and shadow, potentially transforming it into a new tourist attraction in the region.
