The thesis looks at alternative solutions to slum development, in order to foster the existing habitats into a 'society of the city'. The interventions are formulated in 3 development modules.
3Longa-polisLonga-polis accepts today's inescapable social and political circumstances of the doctrines of capitalism as a repetitive tragedy giving us dystopian cities. Considering today's cities as a disease, this thesis follows the process of extracting an 'antigen' in its attempt of developing an 'antibody' to make the future city immune.
49TOMORROW WILL BE A BETTER DAYWe interpreted Aleppo through three alternative dimensions; culminating into 'The Memory Lane. It all started at 'Grand Serail of Aleppo'.Which is proposed to provide the initial shelter for all of the people who were in dire need after coming back. As people gradually shifted to their homes, they left traces to form a nostalgic public plaza.
7Bab Al-Atlal: Remembering Through DebrisBab Al-Atlal is a memorial landscape, a public space on the footprint of the former Grand Serail of Aleppo. We argue against the reconstruction of the Serail, as an act to remember the immeasurable loss of life, property, and social and cultural capital in Aleppo and Syria at large. In this proposal, debris from destruction is the locus of collective memory.
3Revival. Vernacular Architecture.We are living in the world of climatic crisis. Our goal is to minimize embodied energy of the building life cycle. We believe that the best way to do it is by using vernacular architecture. We want to hand over the city to the inhabitants. In this project we showcase a module with basic functions, which each family can expand depending on their needs.
2GROW (Generative Radial Organic Web)GROW (Generative Radial Organic Web) is controlled by Sibija the AI, and is a self dependent skyscraper in the year 2060. She is a combination of organic and technological aspects of life on earth; where it takes over all the functions of a building along with being present everywhere due to its structural plant like movement.

6The GatheringThe Gathering is about bringing the stories of people back to the forefront in learning to be tolerant in conflict, though deepened understanding and acceptance. Perceived as a gallery without walls, visitors absorb the idea of human evolution through spaces enabling the exchange of knowledge to occur.
