The Moonlight Garden intervention tells a story of the glorious King with a secret plan to build an edifice that is greater than a place for himself. The Black Taj - An incomplete memory of Mughal Empire

Our approach to Black Taj has been to reveal the layers of Mughal Empire and not let them remain buried under history. To do so, we wanted to create an experiential poetic space, not just a monument to something of the past. We wanted to orchestrate an experience that thrives the memory of Agra's people and celebrate a shared history.

THE BLACK TAJ - FUNM44

Our narrative and design process begins with the Mughal Garden. It follows the evolution and influence of the Garden on Mughal art, architecture and city design and takes cognizance of today's realty which is completely misaligned with this narrative. In their gardens the Mughals combined their love of Art with the landscape.

THE BLACK TAJ - RBUJ39

The Taj Mahal, symbol of love is marvelous creation built by Mughals which is loved and appreciated by the entire world. The story of Taj Mahal yet discontinued after the death of Shah Jahan as Mehtab Bagh (the beautiful site across the Yamuna) was left unbuilt. A proposed design is the continuation of the journey to meet Taj.

The Black Taj - Time Loop: An immersive experience

Using architectural ideals and principles from Mughal Architecture, with a contemporary, yet minimalistic touch, which would preserve the essence of the site and only serving to enhance the experience of the site into a new realm. This has been done with the help of holograms, a modern version of play of light, which is used as a major tool of narrative.

The Black Taj - [UN] TAJ - ZYGA87

[ UNSYMBOL] The UN-Taj is the Taj that was suppose to be a pair- but NOT Taj. A frame, a forgotten ruin of it, an eruption of pure emotion; hence, the formal presence in front of the Monument, a NONMonument.

THE BLACK TAJ - PGHF33

The Taj Mahal is the most celebrated monument in India. Its grandeur is unparalleled and unquestionable. Our project is a temporary installation which would channelize the authority of The Taj to draw people's attention to the plight of the not so celebrated monuments, and through its ephemeralness the installation would sensitize the citizens...

The Black Taj - XZSV85

To credit Shahjahan the Indian genius who had the capacity to produce something original we have to trace the powerful extraneous influence that shaped the wonder that is Taj and thus his mausoleum(Black Taj) . LESS IS MORE is taken as the design mantra, as less construction will allows us to regain the feel of the golden years of the Mughal empire.

The Black Taj - The Setting Sun - NDIL83

In the moonlit realms of Agra, Black Taj emerges as the reflection of the Taj Mahal. Their reflective connection inspired our proposal . we present thus, the concept of The Black Taj as a twisted tale of torment and destruction contrasting Taj Mahal ideology. a composition that forces the visitor to reflect upon the meaning of this wonder in the world.

The Black Taj - The Ghost Taj - VTKI53

The idea is to create a "twin" platform to that of the Taj Mahal but empty, lacking monumental constructions, in which the virtual image of the Black Taj would be projected using 3D holographic projection technology. In this way a monument is built that is real & virtual, physical & ethereal, classic & radically contemporary.
