Edutrain

Liza Heilmeyer and Stephan Birk met while studying architecture at the University of Stuttgart. After stays in Boston and London, they founded their own architectural practice in Stuttgart (Germany) in 2005, where they now work on various projects with a team of around 30 architects under the name Birk Heilmeyer und Frenzel Architekten. Their work has been acknowledged with several awards, among them the prestigious Deubau-Preis for young architects, emerging architects award weissenhof architecture gallery, North Rhine-Westfalia award for young artists and Europe 40 under 40 - Europe's emerging young architects and designers. Parallel to their work in the office, Liza and Stephan are active in teaching and research as well as in the Association of German Architects (BDA). Liza Heilmeyer is the state chair of the BDA Baden-Württemberg, represents the professional political interests of its members and is active as a jury member in many architectural competitions. Stephan Birk heads the Chair of Architecture and Timber Construction at the Technical University of Munich and is part of the research group TUM.wood.
