Melodie Yashar is a designer, researcher, and co-founder of SEArch+ / Space Exploration Architecture, a practice dedicated to developing human-supporting concepts for space exploration. Along with her SEArch+ colleagues and over twelve subject-matter experts, SEArch+ was the winner of NASA’s Phase 1 Centennial Challenge for a 3D-Printed Habitat on Mars. SEArch+ continued investigations of Martian Ice habitats in collaboration with NASA Langley in the Mars Ice Home Feasibility as well as Risk Reduction studies. Melodie leads SEArch+ and Apis Cor’s continued participation within NASA’s Phase III 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge. Melodie attended Art Center College of Design as an undergraduate and received a Masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction from the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University as well as a Master in Architecture from Columbia University GSAPP. Melodie has worked as a contractor specializing in human factors with the Human Systems Integration Division at NASA Ames, as well as a design and materials researcher within CMU’s Morphing Matter Lab. Melodie’s work operates at the intersection of experiential, narrative, and interaction design practices; her ongoing research explores intelligent and augmented environments, telerobotics and automated construction technologies, as well as emerging technologies considering design for the human body. Michael Morris is a graduate of The Cooper Union School of Architecture and Parsons School of Design Environmental Design and Fulbright recipient. With his late partner-and- wife Yoshiko Sato, Morris founded the New York City-based Morris Sato Studio Architecture in 1996 and the Space Exploration Architecture (SEARC) in 2006. Morris Sato Studio’s multi-disciplinary architecture, art and science collaborations have garnered the firm international commissions and recognition. Concurrent to his practice, Morris has continuously held positions in leading university’s including his alma mater’s Cooper Union and Parsons, co-founding the SEARC Lab and Space Studio’s I-XV at Columbia University and Pratt Institute. Awarded the NASA X-Hab Innovation Grants in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, Morris with SEArch+ partners Rebeccah Pailes–Friedman and Melodie Yashar worked with Pratt architecture and industrial design students to define and prototype Mars transit and surface habitats In 2015-2018, the team’s Mars transit habitat project- MOTH was exhibited at the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum and featured in Scientific America. Jeffrey is a critical designer of extraplanetary habitats and systems. His work cuts across architecture, engineering, industrial design, art, and ethics. He runs the aerospace design consultancy Jetportal Spaceformcraft and leads AI SpaceFactory’s Space technology and design projects. AI SpaceFactory

Fabio Cibinel is a member of the architecture and design studio modostudio. Born in Rome in December 1966. In 2006 he founded the modostudio office together with Giorgio Martocchia and Roberto Laurenti. modostudio | cibinel laurenti martocchia architetti associati, located in Rome, is a multidisciplinary practice of architecture, urban planning and landscape design. Profiting from the diversified skills of the founding partners and the continual collaboration with experts from various fields, modostudio combines architectural theory, research, innovation and experimentation with high technical knowledge and professionalism. Established at the end of 2006 by three principal architects, Fabio Cibinel, Roberto Laurenti, and Giorgio Martocchia, after many years of collaborating with internationally acclaimed architects modostudio was awarded and shortlisted in many international architectural competitions. Along the years the office completed research and cultural buildings, industrial headquarters, office workplaces, residential buildings and landscaping.. Actually is ongoing the design for the Sewoonsangga restructuring citywalk project in Seoul (KR) and the new 950 seats theater and urban park of Piazza d'Armi site in L'Aquila (IT). Modostudio works have been published in a wide range of specialist literature and exhibited in the Italian Pavillion at 13th and 16th Architecture Biennale (2012, 2018) in Venice and at Shanghai Expo 2010.

Ren Ito, a Japanese architect based on Porto, Portugal. He graduated from architecture course of Tohoku University, Sendai Japan, and obtained a master degree in urban designing at the same university. He was entitled another master degree in sustainable design by Architectural Association school of Architecture, London in 2004. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal in 2018. Starting his career at Fujita Corporation from 1999 to 2002, Ren Ito has collaborated with the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira from 2004 to 2011. He collaborated with Joaquim Portela on 2011 and opened his own practice, Ren Ito Arquiteto on 2011. He was granted the Japanese Government Overseas Study Programme fellowship for Artists at 2005 and Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar at 2002. He was awarded the first prize of Architecture at ZERO competition organized by AIA California, U.S.A and the second prize of The Japan Institute of Architects competition 2000 organized by Architectural Association in Japan. He published Álvaro Siza Design Process from IST Press Portugal and he is a co-author of Architects Working Abroad - the world is filled with opportunity published by Gakugei Syuppan, Japan.
