Aldo Sollazo

Aldo Sollazzo is a technologist, with expertise in robotics, manufacturing, and computational design. Since 2011, he is the director of Noumena, leading a multidisciplinary team towards the definition of new design strategies informed by tech-driven applications. He is also the Director of Reshape – digital craft community, a distributed platform promoting cutting-edge ideas merging design and manufacturing. At IaaC, Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalunya, he is directing the Master in Robotics and Advanced Construction, focused on the emerging design and market opportunities arising from novel robotic and advanced manufacturing systems. In the same institution, Aldo is also directing the Global Summer School, since 2015. Aldo has been part of the Fab Academy program as a mentor of Fab Academy Paris and Frosinone from 2015 to 2017. In 2019 Aldo has received, from the Italian President of the Republic, the title of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy for the promotion of national prestige abroad as a recognition of his scientific and technological activities.

Graduated in 1992 in ETSAB_UPC, Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona_Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. From 1990 till 2000 he worked as an Associate Architect with the Architect Enric Miralles, highlighting the following projects: Círculo de Lectores in Madrid, Sports Hall in Huesca, Centro de Alto Rendimiento in Alicante, Library in Palafolls, Parc dels Colors in Mollet del Vallès, Cemetery in Igualada, Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, Diagonal Mar Park, Santa Caterina Market and Gas Natural Building in Barcelona, most of them as a Project and Building Director. In 2000, Josep Miàs founded his own studio. The most important First Prize in Competitions are Girona Central Park Station, Banyoles Old City Refurbishment, Barceloneta Market in Barcelona, Rubí Municipal Market, Fontanals de Cerdanya Golf Clubhouse, Barcelona Tibidabo Amusement Park: Funicular Station and Herta Frankel Puppet Theatre, Girona Annexa-Puigbert Primary School, Barcelona Plug-in Building 22@, Torrebaró Apartment Tower in Barcelona, San Bernardo Apartment Building in Madrid, Dakar Music Village and Recording Centre in Senegal, Palafolls Pedestrian Bridge, Miño Sil Water Confederation Headquarters in Ourense, Arenys Mental Health Centre and iGuzzini Barcelona Corporate Building, Andorra Telecom Headquarters and shortlisted for the New F.C. Barcelona Stadium, and port of Kinmen Passenger Service Center.

Rubén Muedra was born in 1985 in Pedralba (Valencia). He obtained the title of Architect, in the specialty of Building, by the ETSAV (Promotion 2002-2008). He collaborates for 2 years with José Manuel Barrera Puigdollers (Dr. Architect), until he founded in Valencia Rubén Muedra Estudio de Arquitectura in 2010. The Studio, specialized in Residential Single Family Architecture, has developed projects for private clients since its inception. Currently he also develops projects in the field of Restoration, Retail and large Offices, such as SP Berner, Idai Nature, Clave Denia-AleHop or Consorfrut. The philosophy of the firm is present in all of them, developing a responsible, creative, free and honest Architecture based on constructive precision and sincerity, respect for the environment and the needs of the client, making each project unique. He has recently been awarded the Prize for Excellence in Sustainable Architectural Design at the BUILD Sustainable Building Awards for the Idai Nature Passivhaus Headquarters project, holding conferences at the VI Congress of Nearly Null Energy Buildings (Madrid) and the 11th Passivhaus Conferences (Burgos). His projects have been published on most relevant architecture&design websites and magazines worlwide, with nominations to Building of the Year by Archdaily and Best project of the Year by Archilovers, among others.
