Temporary Architecture

Any structure that is not designed for long-term use, but to serve some function in the short-term is deemed to be ‘temporary’. It exists for a short period of time and then disappears, providing a fleeting experience and leaving behind a memory. The experience is unique and more meaningful because of its acknowledged time limit.

It has the ability to mediate between aspired permanence and inevitable change, sustaining cultural meaning despite a short existence and is designed in response to the increased speed and acceleration of our world.

The brief pushes participants to put forward the relevance of temporary structures in society today and showcase the diversity in their intent and usage.
